November 2010: O’Reilly/DePalma arranges a sitdown of sorts with green building influencers Carl Seville and Michael Anschel at the American Standard booth. We also placed client CEO Don Devine of American Standard on a Greenbuild 2010 Residential Summit panel with Wendy Koch, USA Today environmental reporter and Deborah Meyer, SVP and chief marketing officer of Pulte Group.
We supported several clients at the show with press releases and booth media appointments and also had time to have fun with our Green Earth PR Network colleagues. Click any image to enlarge and read the story in captions.

DPI Wallboard
Both companies have something else in common. Both were clients of O’Reilly/DePalma principal Nora DePalma in her previous agency, Building Profits.
DPI hardboard is an interesting, sustainable material for wall-coverings throughout the home. Learn more about DPI at www.decpanels.com.
American Standard Brands President and CEO Don Devine presented the company’s findings on best practices to increase consumer demand and acceptance of WaterSense-certified toilets, faucets and showerheads. Devine was part of a panel session at the 2010 Greenbuild that includes Deborah Meyer, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for PulteGroup, the nation’s largest homebuilder; and Wendy Koch, a reporter with USA Today, who focuses on sustainability issues.
Everyone at O’Reilly/DePalma is pleased that our Green Earth PR connection helped us secure this opportunity for our client. Don Devine has an excellent reputation for driving water efficiency solutions and has extensive knowledge of the issues, making him a great fit for the panel.
November 2010: O’Reilly/DePalma was asked by a division of our American Standard Brands client to secure architect, designer and media attendance at a new product launch event in a midtown Manhattan showroom. Wendy Silverstein in New York managed the event planning, connecting the client to the right influencers in the New York design community.
Final attendance exceeded the expectations of the showroom and exceeded the success metric for attendance the client set as a goal. Client quote: “The attendance was not only great in quantity, but even better in quality. They genuinely liked what they saw and had a good time.”
Municipal water authorities can easily resolve liability concerns regarding the suspension of water service to homes with state-mandated residential fire sprinklers, according to Paul McCulloch, NICET III, lead fire protection designer for Fire Safety at Uponor Inc.
“Potential liability issues have been successfully resolved by more than 400 jurisdictions across the country that already require sprinklers in new-home construction,” said McCulloch, speaking on Nov. 5 at a joint meeting in York, Pa., of the Central Section Water Works Operators’ Association of Pennsylvania (WWOAP) and the North and South Central Districts of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) of Pennsylvania.
McCulloch, who was recently appointed to the Residential Fire Sprinkler Design and Installation Exam Development Committee by the International Code Council® Board for International Professional Standards (BIPS), cited a number of examples of how jurisdictions have effectively indemnified water authorities that terminate water service to homes with fire sprinkler systems.
